An ongoing issue that has been going on for years for many pacific rugby players is the unknown game schedule for each calendar year. Pacific Rugby players CEO Hale T. Pole spoke candidly on the issue and the recent Shape of the Game conference.

“The last few years for Tonga, Fiji, Samoa, the players don’t know how many games they are going to play each year and it can come back to renegotiating their contract to be available for games where they will be representing their nations”.

Hale believes that the introduction of a global calendar will clear up this issue for the players as they will be aware of when the games are and can oragnise and plan around that. A global calendar will fix the uncertainty that some players often experience when wanting to represent their country on the international stage.
